Hi everyone..
My deepest apologies for being gone for so long. My affairs took longer to settle than expected, but here I am back just in time to deliver -
My current stocks holdings as of 29 February 08.
- Pan United
- Sarin
- Yongnam
- Taisin
- Sinotech Fibre
- Eastern
- Lifebrandz
- Sihuan
- China XLX
- IFS
- FujianZY
- Sing Inv
- UIS
- China Sports
- Fibrechem
- HLN Tech
- China Pplus
- ARA
- Yongnam W121214
These are the key Portfolio Changes.
I did not receive any dividends for January 08.
Conclusion:
The recent company results were promising in general, with the majority of singapore and chinese companies enjoying continued growth and dividend payouts, except for some chinese companies which were affected by increasing pork prices and the recent snowstorms.
All in all, the fundamentals continue to remain sound for Singapore and Asia, although the stock market continues to be affected by the U.S. situation. As such, the general consensus is that we will probably experience a quiet 1HFY08.
This will allow me the time to properly digest all the company reports, and to consider making some switches and additions to my portfolio.
For now, I am considering:
- A direct switch from Lifebrandz to FrivenCo at 4.5cts because it is a similar retail penny stock but with better potential.
- Reducing my holdings in Yongnam because its results were slightly below my expectations, mainly because it did not announce any dividend payout despite exceptional profit growth.

hihi,
i saw that china sport has fallen to as low as $1.12. do you think it is qualified to be put on your stock alert?
according to ocbc investment research, their fair value estimate is of S$2.48.
What do you think of its potential in near future? Thank you for your advice in advance! =)
Hi lovejade,
Since I'm already vested in China Sports, I would only consider it a strong buy at under $1 since my fair value for it is $1.63 based on 18x FY07 PE.
Hi, I've been a consistent visitor to your site over the past few months. Yr frequent coverage on Singapore stocks coupled with yr own independent analyses have definitely impressed me.
Nevertheless, given yr focus on making extra-ordinary profits, do you not find that holding so many different stocks in your portfolio will reduce your edge in comparison to the average market-index gain? In this case, perhaps diversification may not be consistent with yr stated aims?
Wld like to hear your thoughts on this. Thanks!!!

Hi CY,
How many stocks should one hold before a portfolio is considered over-diversified is a constant point of debate.
Personally, I am confident that my portfolio is focussed enough to deliver the results, and the fact that it has consistently outperformed the STI index over the past two years prove that point.
FrivenCo has no volume at the moment and it's price is extremely low. What is the reason for your selection and how much is its fair value to you?
Hi Cathy,
FrivenCo is a growing bedlinen brand that has good expansion plans if you study its website and announcements.
Based on pure numbers, it is extremely difficult to calculate a fair value for it.
But personally, I have been thinking about a replacement for Lifebrandz for some time and think that FrivenCo might be the most comparable choice.
Hi,
May i know whats your views on cacola....i got some at 36 cents.
Is it worth holding on? The current market sentiment looks lousy even a growth company that gives out 4% dividends also get sold down..
Cacola is a good small cap growth stock and it has proven its worth by paying out a decent dividend.
Plus your buying price is pretty low, so there is really nothing much to worry about.
Yeah.thanks for the reply.I just need views to confirm my decision.I would be glad to hold it out. Whats your target price on Cacola?
Hi Kleer,
What is your take on China Sky?
